Lady Parts is so very proud to announce our next guest. She is the writer who brought you one of the greatest lesbian love stories in television history; she stands behind a groundbreaking lesbian webseries; she is the one who is responsible for the fact that we are married today.
Jill Lorie Hurst, headwriter of the longest running soap opera in the history of American television, “Guiding Light” (and Emmy Award Winner for best writing on the show), co-created the lesbian couple Otalia, Olivia and Natalia, played by the magnetic Crystal Chappell and Jessica Leccia, and brought together hundreds of fans from all over the world in a fandom unlike any other. After GL was canceled, Hurst went on to become a writer on Chappell’s “Venice,” the first webseries to ever win a Daytime Emmy and star Chappell and Leccia again.
In our Vlog, which will be posted on April 7th, 2016, Jill is giving us all the scoops on the behind-the-scenes of the making of the historical lesbian couple, on her experience with the amazing fandom phenomenon, on working in a completely new medium, and on her exciting new project (set your DVRs!).
If you are a purple person (an old-time fan of Otalia), then you know all about what we’re talking about. But if you are not, fear not! WE’VE GOT YOU COVERED!
YOU CAN WATCH THE ENTIRE OTALIA STORY FROM BEGINNING TO END on The Otalia Channel on YouTube. You can also catch up with the first two seasons of Venice on YouTube, as well.
